Terms of Service
Last updated November 4, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and HiveSight (“HiveSight”, “we”, “us”). They cover the HiveSight website at hive-sight.app, the HiveSight apps, and everything you can do in them, including HiveCircle. By creating an account or using HiveSight, you agree to these terms, the Community Guidelines below and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use HiveSight.
1. Who can use HiveSight
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
- One person, one account. Don’t share your account or sign in as someone else.
- You’re responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your password safe and tell us right away if you think someone else has used it.
- You can’t use HiveSight if you’ve been banned from it before, or if the law doesn’t allow you to.
2. Your content
“Your content” means everything you add to HiveSight: hive and inspection records, notes, frame maps, posts, photos, videos, comments, your profile, and anything captured with smart glasses.
- You keep ownership. HiveSight doesn’t claim ownership of your content.
- You give us permission to run the service with it. You grant HiveSight a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, resize or reformat, and display your content, only to operate, secure, improve and support HiveSight and to show it to the people you’ve chosen to share it with (for example, your HiveCircle). We don’t sell your content and don’t use it in advertising.
- That permission ends when you delete it, except for copies in backups that are removed on their normal schedule, or where we must keep something by law or to deal with a report or legal claim.
- You must have the right to share it. Only post photos, videos, text and music you created or have permission to use. If a photo or video shows other people or their property, you’re responsible for having their permission where it’s required.
- Shared photos and videos can be opened by link. Photos and videos attached to posts are stored at web addresses. Anyone who has the exact address can open the file, so don’t post anything you need to keep private.
- You’re responsible for your content and what happens because you shared it. We don’t review content before it appears and aren’t responsible for what other people post.
3. Community Guidelines
HiveCircle is for beekeepers sharing what’s happening in their apiaries. To keep it useful and friendly, don’t post, share or send anything that:
- infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or other rights, or that you don’t have permission to share;
- harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates anyone, or attacks people for who they are;
- is hateful, sexually explicit, contains nudity, or shows graphic violence or animal cruelty;
- shares someone’s private information (address, phone, location of their apiary, images of them) without permission;
- impersonates a person or organization, or misrepresents who you are;
- is spam, a scam, a chain message, or unsolicited advertising;
- promotes illegal activity, including using pesticides or treatments in ways their label or the law doesn’t allow, or selling bees, honey or products in breach of the law;
- gives dangerous advice presented as fact, or encourages anyone to put themselves or others at risk;
- contains malware, or tries to get around HiveSight’s security, limits or moderation.
If you see something that breaks these rules, use Report on the post or comment, or email steven.a.king86@gmail.com or use Help & support in the app.
4. Reports, removal and account action
- We review reports and may remove or limit content that breaks these terms or the Community Guidelines.
- We may warn, suspend or close accounts that break the rules, put others at risk, or expose HiveSight to legal liability. Where we reasonably can, we’ll tell you why.
- We aren’t required to monitor content, and we may act on content at our discretion, including where the law requires it.
- If you think we got it wrong, contact us and we’ll take another look.
5. Copyright complaints
We respect intellectual property and respond to notices of claimed copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). To report content you believe infringes your copyright, send a notice to our copyright agent (steven.a.king86@gmail.com) that includes:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- a description of the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
- where the material is in HiveSight (for example, the post or a link to the file);
- your name, address, phone number and email;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorized by the owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you’re the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or that you have the right to use it, you can send a counter-notice with the details the DMCA requires. We close the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances. Sending a false notice or counter-notice can make you liable for damages.
6. HiveCircle and other beekeepers
- You choose who joins your HiveCircle. People you accept can see your profile, apiaries, hives and posts, and can comment.
- Your dealings with other beekeepers, including meeting up, buying, selling or swapping bees and equipment, are between you and them. Be careful, and use your own judgment.
7. Beekeeping, safety and AI
- HiveSight helps you keep records and offers general information. It isn’t professional, veterinary, medical, agricultural or legal advice.
- AI features (such as Ask the Hive, photo identification and smart-glasses observations) can be wrong or incomplete. Check anything important yourself or with a qualified person before you act on it.
- Beekeeping carries real risks, including stings and allergic reactions. You’re responsible for your own safety and protective equipment, for following treatment and pesticide labels, and for following the laws where you keep bees (such as registration or inspection rules).
- We aren’t responsible for the health or loss of colonies, honey, crops, property or anything else that happens because of decisions you make using HiveSight.
8. Smart glasses and other services
- Smart glasses aren’t included with HiveSight and aren’t provided for testing. You buy and own your glasses, and their maker’s terms and privacy policy apply to them.
- If you record photos, video or audio with glasses or your phone, you’re responsible for following the law where you are, including getting consent from people you record when it’s required. Don’t record where recording isn’t allowed.
- Pay attention to your surroundings. Don’t use glasses features where it isn’t safe, such as while driving.
- HiveSight relies on other services to run (listed in our Privacy Policy). We aren’t responsible for their outages or for features they change or remove.
9. Free and paid features
HiveSight may offer a free version and paid features or subscriptions. If you buy something, the price, billing period, renewal and cancellation terms will be shown before you pay. Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play also follow those stores’ terms, including their refund policies. We may add, change or remove features, and change prices for future billing periods with notice.
10. Using HiveSight fairly
Don’t:
- copy, scrape or collect data from HiveSight with bots or automated tools without our written permission;
- break, probe or overload HiveSight, or get around its security, limits or access controls;
- reverse engineer HiveSight except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- use HiveSight to build a competing product, or resell access to it; or
- use another person’s account or data without permission.
11. Our property and your feedback
- HiveSight, including its name, logo, software, design, screens, text, graphics and videos, belongs to HiveSight and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. These terms don’t give you any right to use the HiveSight name or logo, or to copy or reuse our content, except to use HiveSight as intended.
- If you send ideas, suggestions or survey answers, we can use them to improve HiveSight without owing you anything, and we don’t have to keep them confidential. Your survey answers are still handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
12. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from your profile (see how to delete your account). We may suspend or close accounts as described in section 4, or if we stop offering HiveSight. Sections that by their nature should continue after your account ends (such as 2, 5, 11, 13, 14, 15 and 16) will continue.
13. Disclaimers
HiveSight is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t promise HiveSight will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that data won’t be lost, or that AI or glasses features will be accurate. Keep your own copies of records that matter to you.
14. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, HiveSight won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, colonies, honey or goodwill, arising from or related to HiveSight or these terms, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for any claim about HiveSight or these terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for HiveSight in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Some places don’t allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
15. Your responsibility to us
If someone makes a claim against HiveSight because of your content, your use of HiveSight, or your breaking these terms or the law, you agree to cover the reasonable costs, including legal fees, and any damages that result, to the extent the law allows.
16. Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and you and we consent to those courts’ jurisdiction. Either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court. Before filing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it informally.
17. Apple and Google
If you use HiveSight through an app from the Apple App Store or Google Play: these terms are between you and HiveSight, not Apple or Google, and HiveSight — not Apple or Google — is responsible for the app and its content, maintenance and support, and for any product, legal or intellectual-property claims about it. If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. You confirm you aren’t in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and aren’t on a U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Your use of the app must also follow the store’s own terms.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll update the date at the top and ask you to review and accept the new terms the next time you use HiveSight. If you don’t accept them, you can stop using HiveSight and delete your account.
19. The rest
These terms, the Community Guidelines and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about HiveSight. If any part can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce something right away, we haven’t given up the right to later. You can’t transfer these terms to someone else; we may transfer them as part of a merger, sale or reorganization.
